Hello, and welcome to the first blog post of my research journal - where I share my research, findings and ideas for teaching.
I'm a graduate teacher (graduated 2015), and I've already had quite a varied journey in my teaching life: working at a district high in regional Western Australia within a low socio-economic area, with a large amount of behavioral issues; straight after my practicum at a strong, well-to-do Catholic girls school!
My subject area is in French, Politics and Religious Education, but I've been teaching English, Mathematics and Humanities and Social Studies (HASS) for the past year, as well as relieving with primary classes - so I've worked in almost everything, from ages 7-17!
My strengths are that I'm very relational - I get to know my kids and coworkers, and I build relationships very well. My weakness is that I get too attached, too friendly, and I can care too much. Especially in a town with only 1000 people, I know my students better than I would if I was in another area, and that can come out in class.
For me, this blog is where I collate my ideas, comment on other's, and share my experiences. As a grad, self-reflection is so important, and even if this simply serves to clarify my practices, it will be so integral to my teaching journey!
